Unfortunately, I missed the American Revolution unit within Mrs. Nichols' class. I voiced the fact that it is my favorite period of history, and she supplied me with this reading that does a fantastic job describing the Intolerable Acts' basis within the Revolution.

This is a copy of a political ideology survey that Mrs. Nichols has used within her classes. She uses it to demonstrate that there is not as wide a schism between the two political parties as the media would have people believe. Similar to surveys that I have taken, these activities highlight the fact that most people are very near the middle of the political spectrum, leaning one way or the other.

This file contains copies of the leaflets that America dropped on Japan, urging them to surrender after using "Little Boy," and "Fat Man." I used these in class, and I found that students are incredibly captivated by the content within the leaflets.

This is a copy of an activity which we will use during quarter 4 as we discuss the pivotal civil rights leaders. Students will have a choice when selecting a project to complete during this unit.

This somewhat lenghty reading discusses fallout shelters and their prevalence during the Cold War. It also asks students to analyze the reading and create their own fallout shelter. Students are also asked to evalute their work, and the teacher will score the assignment as well, culminating in an assignment that utilizes a number of tactics. I will definitely use this within my classes.

The Vietnam War can sometimes be a confusing topic for middle school students. As a result, Mrs. Nichols copied a straightforward and simple-to-understand notetaking study guide which students can complete using their textbooks. Students will also discover the information for themselves, ensuring that it is more meaningful for them since they were not simply copying notes from a teacher-driven lecture.

Mrs. Nichols used this activity during our World War II unit, and the students thoroughly enjoyed it. The activity asked students to create a meal using food rations that were employed during the war. The students were quite excited to create their own meal, especially on a limited budget, just as Americans did during World War II. This is another activity that I will be using in future classes.

Many Other Assignments
During my time student teaching within Mrs. Nichols' 8th grade social studies class at Rincon Vista Middle School, I have collected a wide variety of worksheets, study guides, assignments, assessments, and other extraneous classroom materials. I included a number of them here within my online teaching portfolio. Not to say that the ones here are more important than the other ones I have gathered, but these are among the most interesting or useful to implement with my future classes.
