Student Teaching
As part of my student teaching semester for Northern Arizona University, I was blessed with being placed at Rincon Vista Middle School in the Vail School District. My placement began January 7, 2013 and will last until the end of the semester, May 23. I am lucky enough to have been assigned to work with Mrs. Karen Nichols, a superb 8th grade social studies teacher. She, as well as the school in general, has been very welcoming and accommodating.
The experience has been phenomenal thus far. I have thoroughly enjoyed working within the district that I grew up, and attended school, in. I have established numerous relationships with faculty and students that I will remember for years to come. I have also discovered many techniques and strategies simply from viewing Mrs. Nichols teach. Teaching is quite a bit of work. I often find myself awake in the wee hours of the morning, finalizing lesson plans, assessments, and activites. However, it never feels like work. I enjoy every aspect of the profession, and I would not trade it for anything.

Experience within the Practicum, History 408
During my time within History 408, Practicum in the schools, I was fortunate enough to work with three outstanding teachers.
Early in the semester, I worked with Mr. Kyle Haynes at Sinagua Middle School for approximately 8.5 hours overall.
I was then assigned to work with Mr. Gregory Reiff at Coconino High School for approximately 21.5 hours.
Lastly, I was able to work with, and even teach in Mr. Ron Kuzara's classes at Sinagua Middle School for approximately 15 hours.
Working with these teachers and teaching within their classes offered invaluable knowledge that cannot be taught within any college course, but only offered by firsthand experiences.

Other Experience
Beginning with the summer between my junior and senior years of high school, I began working on my Senior Exit Project, or SEP. I shadowed and worked with approximately five different teachers at Desert Sky Middle School in Vail, Arizona. During the summer and subsequent school year, I volunteered about 80 hours, observing, preparing lessons with the teachers, and even taught on occasion. Furthermore, I worked as a teaching assistant for Mr. Jack Erickson at Cienega High School for the entirety of the 2008-2009 school year. These experiences, coupled with the Practicum assignments, have been essential in preparing me for my future teaching profession.
National History Day Judging
Early in the semester, I was able to volunteer as a shadow judge during the regional National History Day competition at Northern Arizona University. For my efforts, I received a certificate that can be found below.
