First Days of School
Every teacher I have spoken to has claimed that the first days of school, the first week or two, are undoubtedly the most vital of the year. This is when the teacher establishes his rules and guidelines for the remainder of the school year. I had the privilege to work with a fantastic teacher at Coconino High School, and he claimed that spending the first few days, discussing respect with his students goes a long way. They talk about instances where respect is and is not present. By taking time out of the year to establish respect between the students and the teacher, the number of disruptions is severely limited. The worksheet that this teacher uses can be seen below.

During my observations within my practicum placements, as well as in my own, I have seen that a great number of students are unaware of how to take substantial notes. Many of them scribble down what they hear or see with no discernable means of organization. As a future teacher, I know the importance of well-organized, detailed notes, and two templates for note-taking can be found below. One is a very simple lesson and chapter heading template with space for general notes below. The second template is cornell style notes as it is organized in order to allow the students to be as detailed as need be.

During my time in History 399, Teaching and Learning in History and Geography, my professor provided a number of resources that outline and discuss how to perform various activities that can help students within the classroom and stimulate their interests and prior knowledge.

The European Renaissance is a very important part and large chunk of the world history curriculum. These resources seen below allow students to come to their own conclusions and analyze vital documents pertaining to the time period. However, the Northern Renaissance document packet is much more advanced, and is better suited for high school students.
